Bangladesh corona death toll now 17, new cases 41 |
![]() Collected Photo Bangladesh has reported the highest single-day increase in cases and deaths from novel coronavirus in last 24 hours. Five deaths and 41 new positive cases were confirmed during the period taking the number of cases to 164, IEDCR Director Meerjady Sebrina Flora said on Tuesday in an online briefing. Two of the dead hailed from Dhaka and three other from outside the capital, she said. Of the new positive cases, 20 from Dhaka and 15 from Narayanganj. Twenty-eight of the infected persons are males while 13 females and one under the age 10. The briefing also informed that some 792 samples have been tested in last 24 hours. There are some 1,550 isolation beds at different hospitals in Dhaka and 6,143 at hospitals across the country including 112 ICU beds. Prof Abul Kalam Azad, Directorate General of Health Services, said some 69,795 persons have been given health advise while 3,358 advised on hotline. TF/LY |
