Tabligh Jamaat men among 49 in quarantine

A total of 49 people including 46 Tabligh Jamaat Musullis have been put in institutional quarantine in Manikganj district.

Police detained them around 11:00 pm on Sunday when they were returning to their respective homes in Manikganj from Sherpur.

District Special Branch ASP Hamidur Rahman said Singair municipal area was put on lockdown on Sunday after a Tabligh Jamaat man tested positive for coronavirus,.

Following the lockdown, police check posts were set up at different point in the area.

As they were returning Singair by two pickup vans, police detained them, including pickup drivers and assistant, and sent them to the regional office of the National Institute of Population Research and Training in Manikganj for 14-day quarantine.

District civil surgeon Dr Anwarul Amin Akanda confirmed the matter.
