Dealer held for selling rice in black market

A rice dealer was detained by police from Borodal Bazar at Ashashunu upazila in Gopalganj district on Wednesday morning allegedly for selling government rice in black market.

Detained person Mujib Sana is a resident of village Borodal under the upazila.  

Ashashuni Police Station officer in-charge Abdus Salam said on information, a team of police conducted a drive there and arrested Mujib along with with 42 sacks of rice weighing 1,270 kilograms.

The rice was supposed to be sold among poor under the government's fair price programme, OC Abdus Salam said.  

A case was filed against Mujib and one Shahjahan Gazi in this connection, he added.
