Siblings killed in Kushtia clash

Two brothers were killed during a clash between two groups of villagers in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia on Tuesday evening over establishing supremacy.

The deceased were identified as Nehed Ali, 55, and his brother Gokul Ali, 60.  

Supporters of local Awami League leaders Abdur Razzaq and Firoz Ahmed engaged in fisticuffs on Monday noon over a cricket match at Paharpur Eidgah ground.  

As a sequel, both groups locked into a clash on Tuesday evening, leaving the two siblings critically injured.

They were declared dead at Kushtia General Hospital.

Kumarkhali Police Station OC Jahangir Alam confirmed the news.

Additional law enforcers have been deployed in the area to fend off further violence.

A tense situation is prevailing in the area.
