Holiday likely to be extended till Apr 9: PM

"Considering the present situation, we'll have to extend the holiday. It was a 12-day shutdown, but likely to be extended two more days. The decision will be taken later," said the PM while speaking with officials of 64 districts in a video conference from her official residence Ganobhaban on Tuesday. The video conference began at 10am.
"Creating awareness among the countrymen is a must to fight against COVID-19. Our country is small with bigger population. We've started working for long ago to protect our population. For this, the spread of coronavirus is at a controllable level in our country than other countries," Sheikh Hasina said.
She also announced to suspend celebration of Pahela Baishakh this year to avoid mass gathering.
"As we cancelled all progragammes, so decided to suspend such programme where mass people congregate. in this digital era You can celebrate the festival in a digital way," the Prime Minister said.
This year's Independence Day and Mujib Barsho programmes have also been cancelled like Pahela Baishakh for the welfare of the countrymen.
