Strict measures on Dhaka streets to tackle corona risks

In view of tackling novel coronavirus risks, law enforcers will control the movement of people on Dhaka streets from today (Thursday) to ensure the dwellers' social distancing and stay at home.

Apart from police, army members will also remain on the streets.

No one will be allowed to stay on roads without any legitimate reason. Police will interrogate if anyone comes out of roads.

But, newspaper services will remain out of the purview of the restriction.

Earlier on Monday, the government declared general holidays from March 26 to April 4, aiming to prevent the transmission of deadly coronavirus.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said on Wednesday that those who genuinely need to go outside can move on the roads. But, it will have to be ensured so that none can come out of their homes without any valid reasons.
