Coronavirus: Banks to remain open during holidays

All private and public banks Banks will remain open during the general holidays from March 26-April 4 announced by the government in a bid to tackle the spread of coronavirus.
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Serajul Islam said operations of banks will be scaled back in this period to reduce the risk of virus outbreak.
The central bank will issue a circular on the decision on Monday or Tuesday, he said.
Earlier, the government declared a nationwide 10-day holiday shutting down government and private offices excepting essential and healthcare facilities from March 26 over the COVID-19 situation.
“All the government and private offices will remain closed from March 26 to April 4 to prevent the spread of coronavirus,” Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam told a press briefing at the Secretariate.
