HC asks to handover all foreign returnees to law enforcers

The High Court on Thursday directed the government to handover all foreign returnees to law enforcing agencies for quarantine to check spread of deadly coronavirus.

The court asked Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry to take necessary steps for this.

The HC bench of Justice Md Mujibur Rahman Miah and Justice Mohiuddin Shamim passed the order following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Eunus Ali Akand.

The writ was filed on March 15.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh announced its first death from coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus-infected patients stood at 17 on Thursday with three new cases.
