Five of a family among 7 killed in Rajshahi road mishap

Seven people including two children were killed and three others injured after a private car hit a roadside tree at Kadirpur in Godagari upazila of Rahjshahi district on Saturday.
Four of the deceased were identified as Asia Begum, 35, wife of Ramzan Ali of village Kellabaroipara, Akkas Ali, 40, son of late Fazlur Rahman of Munnafer More area in the city, Mahbubur Rahman, 35, son of Motiur Rahman of Meherchandi area in the city.
The rest three victims were a young woman and two children. The woman might be 20 to 22 years old, while the children might be 10 years and one year old, said police.
Khairul Islam, officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station, said the passengers on the private car were going from Rajshahi to Godagari to attend a wedding ceremony. When the speeding car reached at Kadirpur area, the driver suddenly hit a roadside tree losing control over his vehicle. The private car was completely smashed in the accident, leaving three passengers dead on the spot.
Being informed, police and Fire Service personnel went to the spot and recovered three bodies. They also sent the critically injured passengers to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where three succumbed to their injuries.
