Work on six-lane Dhaka-Sylhet highway to begin in July: Quader

Work to turn the Dhaka-Sylhet highway into a six-lane one will begin in July next, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday.

He came up with the information while talking to reporters after a meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Manmohan Parkash at the Secretariat, said a PID handout.

The ADB will finance the project to expand the 210-km highway at a cost of Tk 20,000 crore, the minister said.

He also said eight flyovers, 22 overpasses, five railway overpasses, 69 bridges, 10 underpasses, three road intersections and 69 footbridges will be constructed under the project.





Meanwhile, work on the four-lane Joydevpur-Tangail highway will end soon and that on Tangail-Rangpur four-lane highway has already begun, Quader said.
