4 hurt in Turag BCL attack
Four people were injured in an attack by leaders and activists of Turag unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Nolbhogh area under Turag Police Station, Dhaka on Sunday.
The injured are Selim Raza Miah, 30, Pavel, 35, Shukuruddin, 80, and Ibrahim, 36.
The attackers also vandalised a shop following a feud on business of providing internet.
Jubo League leader Toibur Rahman, also the younger brother of Selim, said 30-35 BCL activists, led by Turag Thana unit BCL general secretary Arifur Rahman, attacked Selim’s shop in the area at noon and vandalised furniture, damaged photos of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The attackers fled the spot sensing the presence of locals as Selim cried for help.
The injured now are undergoing treatment at Tongi General Hospital.
Internet provider Selim said he knew the attackers, including 53 ward BCL president Farhad and Turag Thana general secretary Arif.
BCL leader Arif said Selim and Raj attacked him and others while went there to hold arbitrary meeting to solve dispute on business of providing internet.
Turag Police Station officer-in-charge Nurul Muttaqqin said he had heard about the incident and will investigate this.
