BSMRSTU students threat to lay siege to UGC office

History Department students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) on Friday threatened to lay seize to University Grants Commission’s (UGC) office in Dhaka on March 6.

The announcement came at a press conference in front of the university administrative building around 11:00am.

Karimul Haque, a third-year student of the department, read out a written speech and demanded UGC’s approval for their department.

Earlier on February 6, the UGC asked BSMRSTU to close the department from the upcoming academic year.

There are some 413 students are currently studying in the department.
