Cop arrested for stealing bike in Kurigram


A police constable was arrested for stealing a motorcycle while performing his duty at Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in the district town on Tuesday.

Constable Tariqul Islam, 24, the son of Elisa Mia of Taraf Bahauddin village in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur.

Sources said Ruhul Amin, process server of the magistrate court, left his bike with key to ensure his biometric attendance as he was in a hurry.

Soon after the attendance, he found that the bike had gone missing from the court premises.

Later, examining the CCTV footages of the court, it was found that Tariqul had fled with the motorcycle.

Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said police recovered the stolen motorcycle soon after the incident.





A case was filed over the incident and Tariqul was sent to jail, the OC added.
