3 traffickers held, 3 Rohingyas rescued
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three suspected members of a human trafficking gang and rescued three Rohingya people from Chouddagram upazila of Cumilla on Sunday night.
RAB-11 Company Commander Major Talukdar Nazmus Sakib disclosed the matter in a press conference at its office on Monday afternoon.
Those who arrested are Abdur Rahim alias Rubel, 25, son of late Abul Kalam; Nurul Haque, 29, son of Fazlul Haque; and Foysal Ahmed alias Rony, 32, son of Kamal Uddin. They all are the residents of the upazila.
The three rescued Rohingyas are Md Jahed Hossain, 25, son of Mohammad Amir Hossain; Md Rafiq, 37, son of Md Hakim Sharif; and a under-aged girl.
On information, the elite force conducted separate drives in Dhorkora Bazar and Chiora area, detained the traffickers and rescued three Rohingyas.
RAB also recovered 39 fake passports, fake birth certificates, other documents, three computers, two printers, a scanner, seven mobile phone sets and Tk 60,540 in cash.
The gang engaged in trafficking people to different countries, including Malaysia, by making fake Bangladeshi passports, the official added.
