A court in Dhaka on Monday granted bail to Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman in a case filed over the death of a student of Dhaka Residential Model College.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam passed the order after hearing on the bail.
Matiur Rahman filed the petition this morning as his four-week anticipatory bail given by the High Court ended today, said his lawyer Ehsanul Haque Somaji.
Earlier on January 16, the same court issued a warrant against the Editor, Associate Editor Anisul Hoque and seven other people in the case.
The HC granted a four-week anticipatory bail to Matiur Rahman on January 20.
Naimul Abrar, 15, a class IX student of DRMC, died from electrocution at a function of the daily Prothom Alo's juvenile magazine 'Kishor Alo' on November 1, 2019.
His father lodged the case with Mohammadpur Police Station the next day.
