DMC student attempts suicide

Sajeeb Chandra Ray, 21, who secured third position in MBBS admission test results in 2018, attempted to kill himself on Friday night.

He is now undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Sajeeb, son of a Rickshaw puller in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur, became talk of the country after his best performance in the medical tests.

He is now  a second-year student at Dhaka Medical College and living room no: 305 at Fazle Rabbi Hall.

Monodhar Chandra Rai, father of meritorious Sajeeb, already sold his rickshaw to bear the expenses of his family. Now he is a woodcutter.

DMCH outpost in-charge Bachchu Miah said  Sajeeb was rescued from Hotel Chayanir in city’s Sayedabad area around 9:30pm on Friday with critical condition and rushed to the hospital. He attempted to commit suicide taking sleeping pills, he added.

Sajeeb’s friends said he was suffering from depression last few days.
