5 killed as bus rams into human hauler
Five people were killed as a bus rammed into a human hauler, locally known as Nasimon, in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Friday morning.
The accident that took place in Pona Bus Stand area on the Dhaka-Khulna highway at about 8:00 am also left seven people injured.
Four of the deceased were identified as Badir, 30, Mizan, 43, Sumon, 28, and Sirajul Islam, 40. They all were construction workers and residents of Parulia area in the upazila .
Kashiani Police Station OC Md Azizur Rahman said a bus of 'Falguni Paribahan' coming from Dhaka hit hard a Nasimon while it was approaching to the highway from the Link road, leaving a Nasimon passenger dead on the spot and 11 others critically injured.
On information, Kashiani Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed there and rescued the injured with the help of locals.
The injured were rushed to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex where Badir and Sumon died, OC Azizur said.
Of the other injured, six were sent to Faridpur Medical College hospital while three to Gopalganj General Hospital following their deteriorated conditions.
Later, Sirajul and another succumbed to their injuries at Gopalganj General Hospital, the OC added.
