IU students, teachers among 40 hurt in road crash

At least 40 people, including 37 students and two teachers of Islamic University, were injured in a road crash in Sadar upazila of Kushtia early Friday.

The two teachers are identified as Dhananjoy Kumar and Murshid Alam, assistant professors of Management dept.

Islamic University Police Station officer in-charge Jahangir Arif said a bus, carrying the students and teachers, hit a stationary truck and then struck a roadside tree in Bittipara area around 1am, leaving 40 people injured.

Of the injured, 12, including the bus driver, were sent to Kushtia General Hospital while the others to the University Medical Centre.

The IU teachers and students were returning to the campus from Naogaon after completing their fieldwork  when the accident took place.
