The Mongla Port Authority (MPA) has set up Portable Laser Detector (PLD) to screen the port users in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak in China.

The PLD device was installed at the main security gate of the port jetty on Tuesday afternoon, according to a press release issued by deputy secretary of MPA Md Makruzzaman.

All foreigners, officers, employees and workers of port users have been advised to be screened through the PLD during entry and exit in the jetty area, the release said.

Dr Sufia Khatun, health officer of the MPA Health Department, on Wednesday said two portable thermometers were also installed along the portable laser detector at the entrance of the port jetty.

None has yet been found with the virus infection, she added.
