3 students killed as train hits bike

A train hit a motorcycle carrying three students on Biswanathpur rail crossing in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Tuesday afternoon, leaving them dead.

The deceased were identified as Yasin Sharif, 18, son of Md Farid Sharif of Naoradula village; Sohan Talukder, 18, son of Ahad Talukder of Sonaspur village; and Abu Rayhan, 17, son of Ashraf  Ali of Hirnyakandi village in the upazila.

Of them, Yasin was an SSC examinee from Joynagar High School in the upazila while the others were 10th graders of the same school.

Quoting witness, Kashiani Police Station officer in-charge Azizur Rahman said a local train smashed their motorcycle on Biswanathpur rail crossing around 2:30pm, leaving Yasin dead on the spot and two others critically injured.

The injured were rushed to Kahsiani Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

The bodies were handed over to Railway Police.
