Three killed in road crashes in 2-district
At least three people were killed and seven others were injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet and Tangail on Wednesday.
In Sylhet, a motorcycle rider was killed and two others were injured as a truck hit their motorcycle in Chowhatta area of the town on early Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Imtiaz Mahbub Mirza, 20, resident of Sheikhghat in the town.
Officer-in-Charge of Sylhet Kotwali Model Thana Md Selim Mia said the accident occurred at around 2:30 am when a truck hit a motorcycle in the area. The injured were rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared Imtiaz dead.
Police arrested the truck driver from the spot. In Tangail, two truck helpers were killed and five others injured in two separate road accidents in the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Emon, 16, resident of Kukadair village in Bhuapur Upazila and Redanur Haque, 32, hailed from Ashka village in Valuka Upazila of Mymensingh district.
Officer-in-Charge of Bangabandhu Setu East Thana Kazi Ayubur Rahman said Emon died following a collision between two trucks and a bus at Kamakkha Mor on Tangail-Bangabandhu Setu Highway in Kalihati Upazila.
Five others were also injured in the accident.
Redanur died on the spot in the second accident, took place at east side Toll Plaza area of Bangabandhu Setu at around 7:00am when a truck hit another truck.
Injured people were admitted to Tangail General Hospital.
