6 BCL leaders among 7 sent to jail for harassing girl
Six Chhatra League leaders among seven people were on Friday sent to jail in a case filed for harassing a schoolgirl in Rajshahi.
Earlier, police nabbed the accused from Raighati area in Mohonpur upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The accused are: upazila BCL vice president Rana Hossain,25, Raighati union BCL president Shahinul Alam Mithu,24, BCL activists Hossain,20, Mahfuzur Rahman,19, Shafiul,24, Arafat Islam Nahid, and Harun Or Rashid,45, a resident in Barail area.
Local sources said BCL leader Rana Hossain used to harass the girl,15, a class X student.
On Thursday, Hossain and his associates harassed the girl and hurled abusive words when she was returning home from school.
At that time, local people caught Hossain and informed police.
Hearing the news of Hossain's confinement, his associates tried to take him away.
But, local people and school students protested them, creating a tense situation.
As the BCL leaders also asked police to go and created obstacles on law enforcers to discharge their duties, police detained them all.
The victim's father filed case with Mohonpur police at night in which they were shown arrested.
