Woman 'commits suicide' failing to repay loan

Failing to repay the installment of NGO loan, a woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself  in Baraigram upazila of Natore on Monday evening.

Deceased Beauty Khatun, 34, was the wife of Altaf Hossain, a resident of Nishchintapur village in the upazila.

Local UP member Dr Noor Islam Siddique said Beauty borrowed loan from a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) for her father.

She was to pay an installment of the loan on Monday. But her father could not manage the required money.

As the NGO put pressuring on her over the money, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the celing in her room in the afternoon.

Hearing her groaning, relatives rushed to the room and took her to a local hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Baraigram Police Station officer in-charge Sanwar Hossain said the body was sent to hospital morgue and an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
