Writ seeks HC order to defer Dhaka city polls
A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking its directives on the Election Commission to defer the date of elections to two Dhaka city corporations.

Adv Ashok Kumar Ghosh submitted the petition on Sunday.

Elections to Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation will be held on January 30 while the Saraswati Puja falls on the same day.

In his writ, the lawyer urged the court to order the EC to set the date in the first week of February.
