Bangladesh role model of dev under PM: Iqbal

CHATTOGRAM Dec 15: Editor of the Daily Observer and eminent journalist Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury on Sunday said Bangladesh had become a role model of development in the world under able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"Bangladesh is marching towards a developed country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina has set up an example of mega development across the country over the last nine years," he said.
He was speaking as the main speaker at a Victory Fair in Outer Stadium of Chattogram.
The discussion meeting was organised by the Muktijoddher Bijoy Mela Parishad on the Victory Day and on the commemoration of the late Chattogram Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.
"Anti Liberation forces are still hatching conspiracy to destroy law and order situation, democracy and development," he said. The Prime Minister has taken action against the war criminals by putting them on trial, he said.
Terming the anti-casino drive as an unprecedented example, Iqbal said Sheikh Hasina had taken a strong step against corruption and gambling and casino.
Terming Mohiuddin Chowdhury an undisputed leader of Chattogram, Iqbal said the late Mayor had played a vital role in developing the Port city.
Amir Hussain Amu, Member of the Awami League advisory committee, was present as the chief guest.
Presided over by Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, the discussion meeting was also addressed by Akbar Hussain Khan Pathan (Actor Faruk), Altaf Hussain Chowdhury Bacchu and Abul Hashem.
The weeklong 'Muktijuddher Bijoy Mela' began 0n December 10 in the Outer Stadium of MA Aziz Stadium of Chattogram.
The fair will end on Monday, the Day Victory Day.
