Govt wants to keep Bangladesh-India tie intact


Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said Bangladesh wants to keep its tie with neighbour India intact.

“Bangladesh-India enjoy a very cordial bilateral relations. We want the relationship to remain unbroken,” said Quader, also the Road, Transport and Bridges Minister.

The minister came up with the comment while addressing a meeting at AL’s central office in city's Bangabandhu Avenue. The party arranged the meeting to discuss its preparations ahead of the 21st council.

Terming NRC (National Register of Citizens) and other bills as India’s internal issue, the minister further said, “We are closely monitoring the NRC situation. India is a sovereign, independent country. Whatever was passed in their parliament is their internal matter”.

Responding to queries on the upcoming AL council, the general secretary said that it will be the most memorable among all the councils.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal presided over the meeting where joint general secretary of AL Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organizing secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim and deputy office secretary Biplob Barua, were, among others, were present.
