Fakhrul, 22 others BNP men get anticipatory bail
Twenty-three BNP leaders, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy secured bail from the High Court on Sunday in two cases filed for torching three motorcycles in the HC area.
An HC bench of Justice Md Jahangir Hossain and Justice Riaz Uddin Khan granted them eight weeks' anticipatory bail.
The bench also asked the accused to surrendered before the lower court after ending of the bail period.
Advocate Zainul Abedin and barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon represented the BNP leaders in the court.
On December 11, three motorcycles were set ablaze near the HC Mazar gate, Eidgah ground gate and Bar Council gate areas from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm.
Later, police filed two cases accusing 135 BNP leaders and activists, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in that day.
