Keraniganj factory fire death toll rises to 17



The number of deaths from Keraniganj plastic factory fire rose to 17 as three more burn injured have died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn And Plastic Surgery.

Abdur Razzaq, Moktakin and Abu Sayeed died at the burn unit of the hospital on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment.

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of the unit, confirmed the deaths.

He also said the condition of the other victims are not good.

Fourteen victims died at the burn units of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the Sheikh Hasina National Institute till Saturday.

A fire broke out at Prime Pack and Plastic Industries Ltd in Chunkutia area on December 11.

On information, 10 fire fighting units rushed to the scene and put the blaze under control over an hour of frantic efforts.

The burn victims were admitted to the DMCH and the Sheikh Hasina National Institute.
