House vandalized over land dispute, 6 held

Police arrested six people from Phulbari upazila of Kurigram for their alleged involvement in an attack on a house and vandalizing idols of temple.

According to local source, Harikanta Rai and Dulal hossain, of Kabirmamud village, had been at loggerhead over a piece of land.

As a sequel, a group of 20/25 people attacked Harikanta’s house. They vandalized and set on fire the house and a temple inside it.

On information, police went to the place and detained six people in this connection.

Two of the detained, Mostafa and Mukul, denied the incident of attack and vandalization saying it is made-up.

Harikanta’s brother filed a case with Phulbari Police Station accusing 24 people, said officer in-charge Khandakar Fuad Ruhani.
