Death toll hits to 11 in Keraniganj plastic factory fire



The death toll from Wednesday's fire at a plastic factory in Dhaka's Keraniganj rose to 11.

Eleven burn victims who were undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) died from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, the burn unit assistant doctor Tahmina Sattar Shimu confirmed.

Nine of the deceased were identified as Imran, Babul, Khaleq, Salauddin, Sujon, Jinarul Islam, Alam, Jakir Hossain, Jahangir.

Health Minister Jahid Malek said of the 35 burn victims, 32 are in critical condition.

The Minister told this to media while visiting them at the burn unit today.

He also said the government will bear all treatment cost for the burn victims.

A fire broke out at Prime Pack and Plastic Industries Ltd in Chunkutia area around 4:15pm on Wednesday that left one dead and 35 people injured.
