Fakhrul among 135 sued over arson attack

Two cases have been filed accusing some 135 BNP leaders and activists, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, for torching three motorcycles in city's High Court area on Wednesday.   

Police filed the cases with Shahbagh Police Station, Sazzadur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Ramna zone) confirmed this on Thursday.

Three motorcycles were set ablaze in the HC's Mazar gate, Eidgah ground gate and Bar Council gate areas from 4:30pm to 4:45pm on Wednesday.

Shahbagh police OC Abul Hasan said torching in three bikes at a time might be an act of violence.

SI Rezaul, who was present on the scene, said they detained a suspected man while fleeing after torching the motorbikes.
