Charges pressed against Samrat in drug case
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday pressed charges against expelled Juba League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat and his accomplice Enamul Haque Arman in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Sub-Inspector Abdul Halim of RAB- 1 submitted the charge sheet before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka. The hearing on the charge sheet will be held on December 15.
According to charge sheet, Samrat used to collect drugs through his accomplice Arman. RAB recovered 19 bottles foreign wines, 1160 Yaba tablets worth about Tk 3 lakh and 48 thousand in cash from them.
On September 18 this year, RAB busted casino operations in raids on Young Men's Club, Wanderers Club and Muktijoddha Krira Chakra in Motijheel. On September 24, the government imposed a travel ban on Samrat.
The elite force arrested Samrat and Jubo League Dhaka South unit vice president Enamul Haque Arman from Comilla's Chauddagram on October 6.
On October 7, RAB 1 Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Khalek filed the two cases against Samrat for possessing illegal arms and narcotics. Arman was also accused in the narcotics case.
On November 6, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) submitted a charge sheet against expelled Jubo League South unit President Ismail Chowdhury Samrat in a case filed under the Arms Act.
