Purbadhala free day being observed
Purbadhala free day is being observed on Monday amid festivity.
Purbadhala, an upazila of Netrakona district, was freed from the occupation of Pakistani Army on that day in 1971.
The upazila administration chalked out various programmes marking the historical day.
Besides, the upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad will bring out a victory rally, hoist national flag and arrange a discussion today, said the upazila muktijoddha commander Nizam Uddin.
On December 8 in 19971, the Pakistan military escaped the upazila facing a joint attack by the freedom fighters and the people who wanted freedom.
On the next day, the military tried to enter the upazila by train, but they had to retreat following a powerful attack and an interruption.
Thus, the upazila became free from the occupation of Pakistan Army.
