The Bangabandhu BPL 2019 started its journey as the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the biggest cricket fiesta of the country on Sunday.
This is the 7th edition of the most rigorous domestic T20 tournament of the country. This year BPL has been dedicated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to celebrate the centennial birth anniversary of the father of the nation.

Hasina wished for the competition's 'grand success' the special edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), rebranded as Bangabandhu BPL to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The mega cultural event of the inaugural programme commenced about one and a half hours later than the scheduled time. Local performer 'Rockstar' Shuvo was the first performer, who sang three songs followed by Nagar Baul James. He was also allowed to sing three songs only and the 3rd name among the local performers Momtaz Begum was not called upon the stage.
The Prime Minister arrived at 7:10 pm, when James was singing. She inaugurated the BPL and James sang two more songs before departing the stage. Colourful fireworks after announcing the inauguration of the programme, possibly was the best part of the day's activities.
The Indian performers dominated cultural show began then! Sonu Nigham sang for 80 minutes then came Kailash Kher at the stage. Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Ketrina Kaif were yet to perform till writing this news.
The main battle are scheduled to commence on December 11 with the match between Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Sixers. The curtain of the BBPL will be downed with royal finale, which scheduled to be held on January 17.
