Call for running schools with active participation of all

GAIBANDHA, Dec 8: Speakers at a function here on Saturday underscored the need for running Ananadloke Schools here peacefully through active participation of all the members of school managing committee (SMC), teachers, land donors and local elite.
They made the comments while addressing a function on honouring and future thinking at the auditorium of Public Library and Club in the town at noon.
Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a local non-government organisation, arranged the function in cooperation with NETZ Bangladesh marking one-decade completion of Anandaloke schools located in the district for the underprivileged children of the society.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin addressed the function as chief guest while Gaibandha Municipality Mayor Advocate Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon, Deputy Country Director of NETZ Bangladesh Shahidul Islam, and cultural personality Principal Jahurul Qaiyum also spoke at the event as special guests.
Executive Chief of GUK M Abdus Salam presided over the ceremony.
Speakers said a total of 23 Anandaloke schools were established in Sundarganj, Sadar, Fulchhari and Shaghata upazilas of the district in 2008 with the financial support of NETZ Bangladesh, and the schools were named after famous persons of the country.
Since then, the schools have been playing significant role in providing education to the poor students at their catchment areas and are passing annual exams including primary education completion ones successfully, they also said.
DC Abdul Matin, in his speech, urged the chairpersons and members of SMC, and teachers to conduct the schools properly aimed at turning the schools into knowledge acquiring centres so that the students of the school could be worthy citizens of the country.
The DC also asked the teachers of the schools to be more serious, sincere and professional in discharging their duties and ensure quality and standard education to the students to face the challenges of the 21st century.
The DC also thanked the NETZ Bangladesh for providing fund to run the schools smoothly and local donors for donating the land for the establishment of the schools aimed at spreading education to the students of poor families to make the primary education programme of the government a success.
Later, the land donors were awarded reception through providing them with crests for keeping much contribution to the education field.

The programme was followed by a cultural function where the students of the schools rendered songs and performed dances.
