HC wants to know administration's steps
The High Court on Sunday wanted to know about what steps have been taken by the administration against Awami League leader Abdur Rashid for cutting off hair of a housewife in Sirajganj over a false scandal.
The court also asked deputy general Barrister Abdullah Al Mahmud Basher to inform about the matter by December 11 after contacting Sirajganj DC, ASP and Ullapara Police Station OC.
An HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader passed the order.
On November 25, five AL men, including ward-unit president Abdur Rashid, stopped Bilkis Khatun, wife of Jahangir Hosssain of Gozail village in Ullapara upazila, on her way home and cut her hair over a false scandal.
On December 2, the woman filed a case with Ullapara Police Station against the five.
The accused are ward AL president Abdur Rashid, Munsur, 38, Abdus Salam, 45, Nasir Uddin, 40 and Shahidul Islam, 32.
Meanwhile, a video of the incident went viral on social media where the five men were seen cheerfully cutting off all the hair of the victim.
