Farmers guarding onion fields!
Farmers in Bogura’s Sonatala upazila are now passing their sleepless nights to guard their onion fields in fear of theft.
They have erected makeshift tents on their onion fields to keep vigil to prevent the theft of their crops.
Farmer Yasin Bepari of Maddadighalkandi village said onion on his two decimal lands were theft on Monday night.
“I have cultivated onions on four decimal of lands this year and sold onions of two decimal lands worth Tk 15,000. But, The produce on rest of the lands have been stolen,” he lamented.
Jhurgasa UP member Abdul Gafur said he did not heard about onion theft from lands in the past. It might have happened due to the sky rocketing prices of this crop, he added.
Sonatal officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Masud said he was informed about this incident.
