Fire guts 19 shops in Laxmipur

A total of 19 shops and three houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Ramgati Bazar in Ramgati upazila of Laxmipur early Tuesday.

Locals assumed that the fire originated from an electric short-circuit at a cosmetic shop around 1:30am.

On information, two firefighting units from Ramgati and Kamalnagar Fire Service and Civil Defense Stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, said Abul Hashem, acting station officer of Ramgati Fire Service and Civil Defense.

The assets worth about Tk 1 crore were damaged in the fire, claimed the traders and shop owners.

Meanwhile, upazila project implementation office will provide compensations among the victims, said the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Abdul Momin while visiting the spot.
