Mickey Arthur owes his coaching career to Eddie Barlow
Mickey Arthur, who has already coached three internationals cricket teams- South Africa, Australia and Pakistan-owes his coaching credentials to late Eddie Barlow, the former South Africa cricketer and coach.
This is because, according to Cally Barlow, the wife of late Eddie, only had suggested Arthur to take up coaching career.
Speaking exclusively over her mobile from England, where she resides now, said, "Eddie knew Mickey when he coached Free State and again when he coached Griquas. Mickey was coming to the end of his cricket playing days and Eddie asked him what he was going to do afterwards. He didn't really know and Eddie suggested that he went into coaching".
"Mickey would I know credit Eddie and said publicly that he admired Eddie's approach to coaching", she further added.
Interestingly, Arthur, 51, will be taking up Sri Lanka coaching very soon.
He will be the consultant for Dimuth Karunaratne's boys for the two Test matches in Pakistan next month and will take over thereafter. His first assignment will be the series against India early next year.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to play three T-20Is (all night matches) at Guwahati, Indore and Pune.
