She looked normal enough
Her back facing me,
But there was something about her
That had drawn me in.
I saw her enter the train
One station after me
With her head looking down.
Shuffling in
She stood at the corner
Withdrawing from the world
Face all forlorn
Pupils darting nervously.
Her eyes saw me staring
And it widened with fear
Then she quickly turned away
With her back facing me.
I wondered what she had gone through
That made her act this way
I wondered if she had anyone
To help her survive through the day.
I looked at her body
Trembling slightly
And I wished with all my heart,
That all her pain would go away.
She looked normal enough
With her back facing me
But as I left the train
I saw her turn her head
And I was pretty sure her eyes said
"Help me".
