BD seeks Asia-Pacific investment in infrastructural development

Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman urged Asia-Pacific countries for making direct investment in infrastructural development in Bangladesh for the country's economic growth.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the two-day conference of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Salman F Rahman said Bangladesh is now a great destination for foreign and domestic investments. The current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a business and trade-friendly government.
Jointly organized by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and CACCI, the theme of the conference of this year is 'Asia: At the Centre of a New World Order'.
CACCI President Samir Modi in his inaugural speech said that Asia- Pacific region is now world's largest and fastest developing economy spearheading growth in trade, investments, new technologies, innovation and reforms.
He also mentioned the recent economic trends in Asia and the Pacific lend optimism to perceptions that the region will maintain its preponderant influence as the engine of the global economy in future also.
While Asia is at the forefront of the global economy today, it confronts some fundamental challenges that may require a shift in the region's growth model. Preserving international and regional collaboration also remains an important overarching objective for strong economic integration of the region.
Fifty-five  participants from 15 CACCI member countries including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Nepal, Panama, Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK and USA are taking part at the Conference.
It may be mentioned here that, two days 33rd CACCI Conference started to bring together more than 300 business delegates including leading National Chambers of Commerce, Business leaders and Policy makers from 27 countries in the Asia Pacific region and feature eminent speakers ranging from leading economists, business practitioners as well as regional policy makers to assess key challenges and issues.
The two-day event will cover sessions on "Business Opportunities through CACCI",  "Asia Pacific in a Changing Global Order: The Next Decade", "Technologies Transforming Economies",  "In Pursuit of Equitable and Sustainable Growth," and "Building an Enabling Environment for Inclusive Digital Transformation in the Asia-Pacific," in addition to breakout sessions on  "Promoting Entrepreneurship", "Achieving Food Security and Food Safety", "Overcoming the Digital Gender Divide"  and "Promoting SME Development.




FBCCI President Sheikh F Fahim emphasized on Bangladesh's stable macro-economic growth trajectory and its development in past decade in addition to highlighting FBCCI's role as the umbrella trade organization of Bangladesh reflecting Bangladesh's private sector voice in the international space complementing our Govt.'s initiative.
FBCCI has been addressing some ciritical issues of our transitional economy including knowledge transfer for 3IR to 4IR, AI, regulatory planning, SDG goals, industry-academia gap assessment, reskilling, technology transfer, among others, he said.
