DIU holds national girls’ programming contest


Daffodil International University (DIU) hosted 4th "National Girls' Programming Contest 2019" in collaboration with Department of Computer Science and Engineering, DIU Girls' Computer Programming Club (DIU GCPC), Bangladesh Computer Council and the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications & Information at DIU campus yesterday.
It is observed that, the female participation in the competitive programming contest of Bangladesh is not that remarkable. This is why national girls programming contest started and played an important role in motivating the young female programmers of Bangladesh.
The preliminary episode of NGPC was held successfully in 19 October, 2019. A total of 450 teams from different schools, colleges and universities were registered to participate in this competition. The competition was held in accordance with the rules of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC).
The final round of NGPC inaugurated by Munir Hasan , Information Technology Consultant & Open Source Software consultant along with Prof Dr syed Akhter Hossain , Head of CSE department, DIU and Prof Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Department of Computer Science and Engineering , Jahangirnagar University at 09:00 AM. Tarif Ezaz, Programming Coach of Stamford University was present in the judging panel where Prof Dr Mohammad Kaykobad and Prof Dr Syed Akhter Hossain as invigilator with other teachers visited the contest floor.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister, ICT Division, Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and IT as chief guest along with Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director, BHTPA, NM Zeaul Alam , Senior Secretary , ICT Division ,and  Dr Rubana Huq  , Managing Director , BGMEA as guest of honor were present in the award giving ceremony.
Team "BUET_A_Team_Has_No_Name" for solving 7, highest problems achived the winning place Where Team "JU_LightFury" and Team "CUET_Melanostictus" achieved the 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up position respectively. The champion team was awarded with 50,000 BDT, trophy and medal .The 1st runner-up and 2nd runner- up  were  awarded with 30,000 BDT and  20,000 BDT, trophy, medal respectively. Besides top 10 teams were awarded with medals and all the participants were given a certificate of appreciation.
There were different competition also held for intermediate level and the divisional level where winners were awarded with prize money.
