Four detained with drugs in three districts

Four persons were detained with drugs in three districts- Bhola, Manikganj and Rajshahi, in two days.
BHOLA: Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a drug trader with five yaba tablets from Sluice Gate area under Shibpur Union in Sadar Upazila of the district on Monday night.
Arrested Md Jinnah, 33, is the son of late Md Harun Mia of No. 3 Ward under the union.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of district DB Police Md Shahidul Islam said, on a tip-off they raided the said area and arrested the drug trader with the yaba.
A case under Narcotics Control Act was filed in this connection, the OC added.
MANIKGANJ: Police arrested a drug trader with 120 yaba tablets from Paschim Dashora area of the district town on Monday.
Arrested Liton Robidas, 34, is the son of Palash Robidas of the area.
Inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control in the district Saiful Islam said, on a tip-off, police raided the said area and arrested the drug trader with the yaba.
Later, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asmaul Husna Liza sentenced him to one-year jail.
RAJSHAHI: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in three separate drives, arrested two persons and recovered drugs worth about Tk 32 lakh from border areas of the district in two days.
The arrested are: Minarul Islam, 25, son of Shahidul Islam of Alaipur Village in Bagha Upazila, and Md Riaz, 45, son of Ramzan Ali of Shahapur area in Bagha Municipality.
BGB Rajshahi-1 Battalion Commander Lt Colonel Ferdous Ziauddin Mahmud confirmed the matter in a press release on Monday morning.
He said a team of Mirganj BGB Camp of Bagha Upazila raided Harirampur Char area in the Padma River, and arrested Minarul along with 3,925 yaba tablets at dawn.
Minarul's companion Bhola Mia, 40, fled the scene at that time.
A case against Minarul and Bhola under Narcotics Control Act was filed with Bagha Police Station (PS) in this connection.
On the other hand, a team of Padma Char BGB Camp conducted a drive in Tangan Garur Ghat area in Katakhali Upazila of the district, and arrested Riaz with 3,500 yaba tablets on Sunday night.
A case under Narcotics Control Act was filed with Katakhali PS in this connection.
A team of Shahapur BGB Camp, in a separate drive, recovered 153 bottles of phensedyl worth about Tk 61,000 from Madhya Char area in Katakhali Upazila.
The recovered yaba tablets and phensedyl were stored in the BGB Battalion Headquarter, and those will be destroyed in public, the commander added.
