![]() Truck-covered van workers call indefinite strike Bangladesh Truck Covered-van Goods Transport Owners Workers Unity Council has called a countrywide indefinite strike for Wednesday to press home for their nine-point demand. The strike will enforce from 6am on Wednesday. Rustam Ali, convenor of the council, announced the agitation programme at a press briefing held at city's Tejgaon area around 11:45am on Tuesday. The nine-point demands include: The new act should be amended where the compensation money of owners and workers will be kept compatible with their salaries; the drivers will not be made lone accused in an accident case and if he made an accused in the case, it should be bailable; the driving license will be given them with an easy conditions; police harassment on roads, highways should be stopped in the name of papers checking. Meanwhile, bus workers of different districts are observing strike protesting the new Road Transport Act. TF/LY |
