Transport workers block Dhaka-Mymensingh highway



Transport workers blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Tuesday morning demanding cancellation of new Road Transport Act-2018.

They took to the street around 8am putting barricade at Mawna Chourasta in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, creating sufferings to the students of different schools and colleges and office goers.

Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University admission seekers were the worst sufferers due to the blockade.

Agitating workers said they will continue the strike until the Road Transport Act is cancelled.

Mawna highway Police Station SI Ayub Hossain said they are trying to remove the agitating workers from the road.

The Road Transport Act came into effect from November 1.
