Fear of train accidents

Published : Tuesday, 19 November, 2019 at 12:00 AM  Count : 93

Dear Sir

The recent news surrounding the train accident is really horrifying. Travelling by bus tends to be claustrophobic for many people.  During long journeys it is not comfortable at all.  Comparatively, train journeys are convenient as you can walk around if needed, order snacks when hungry, or even use the toilet as required. Therefore, people who commute regularly on train are now horrified in the incidents.

However, over the years, we have witnessed multiple train accidents many of which were deadly. In many cases we have seen that the accidents could have been avoided if possible measures have been taken.  Despite similar accidents, the authorities don't take severe measures to tackle the situation.

Many lives have been lost to accidents as a result of carelessness, whether it be on the roads or on the tracks. I am a frequent commuter and I am shocked and scared.  I am sure that many others who travel like me feeling insecure too.

My fear will pass. I earnestly hope that security is ensured by the authorities before more lives will be lost in different transports.
