Four get life term for murder in two districts
Four persons got life-term jail for separate murder incidents in two districts- Khulna and Natore, in two days.
KHULNA: A local court on Thursday sentenced three persons to life-term imprisonment and fined each Tk 10,000, in default to suffer three more years in jail, for killing a manager of Shetu Diagnostics Centre in the city in 2011.
The convicted are: Md Sohel Sheikh, Sheikh Rubayet Hossain alias Bulbul, and Sabbir Hossain Topu.
The court also jailed two others for two months for destroying evidence of the case. They are: Rana Kabir, Hafizur Rahman, and Pankaj Shil.
Judge of Khulna Metropolitan and Session Judge Court Rozina Akhter handed down the verdict in presence of the convicts except Rana Kabir.
Public Prosecutor Sabbir Ahmed said the life-term convicts looted Tk 1.70 lakh from the cash counter of the diagnostics centre after slaughtering its manager Yunus Ali on June 13, 2011.
The deceased's father Md Amzad Hossain filed a case with Khulna Sadar Police Station (PS) in this connection.
Sub-Inspector Moshtaq Hossain pressed charge-sheet to court accusing six on September 7, 2011.
NATORE: A court here on Wednesday sentenced a man to life-term jail for killing his father.
Additional Judge of District and Session Judge Court Md Saifur Rahman Siddique declared the verdict against Mansur Ali, son of late Ghughur Ali of Shove-Thakurpara Village in Lalpur Upazila of the district.
According to court statement, on March 13, 2013, Mansur Ali started beating his father Ghughur Ali with an iron rod at one stage of a scuffle over money, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, family members rushed him to a local hospital, where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
A case was filed with Lalpur PS in this connection, and police arrested
After investigation, police submitted charge-sheet to the court against him.
After examining all evidences and documents, the judge declared the verdict.
