Emerging Tigers take revenge of senior's defeat crashing India by 6 wickets
Bangladesh emerging team confirmed semifinal of the 4th ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2019 beating their Indian counter parts by six wickets at the BKSP Ground-3, Savar on Saturday.
The Under-23 Bangladesh side preferred to chase winning the toss and wrapped up guests at 246 after brilliance from their bowlers. Sumon Khan kept domination in the tournament and picked up his second four wickets haul from two appearances in the series. Besides, Soumya Sarkar and Tanvir Islam shared two wickets each. Arman Jaffor was the only batsman among touring players to seize opponent bowler's respect with his daddy hundred of 105 runs.
To chase an easy target of 247, Bangladesh lost their opener Naim Sheikh cheaply. Naim had gone for 14. But the 2nd wicket stand of 144 runs between opener Soumya Sarkar and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto frustrated touring bowlers. Soumya scored 73 runs while Shanto missed his ton for six runs. Yasir Ali collected 21 although Afif Hossain and Zakir Hasan were unbeaten with 34 and two runs next to respective names as Bangladesh reached at 250 for four with 47 balls to spare.
Emerging Tigers blew away Hong Kong by nine wickets in their tournament starter. Thus, bagging four points, they secured their spot in play offs yet before keeping one group stage match at hand. They will take on Nepal on November 18 at the same ground. Pakistan also confirmed semies winning two of two from Group-A.
The two semifinals are fixture for November 20 and 21 whilst the final will take place on November 23. The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will host all three knock-out games.
