Teenager killed over 'love affair'; 3 friends held

A teenage boy has been killed and his body hidden into bush allegedly by his friends over a love affairs related dispute in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

Deceased Mohammad Mawla, 17, was the son of Ekhlas Uddin, a resident of Paiska area in the upazila.

Rupganj Police Station sub-inspector Nazim Uddin said they recovered the body with hands and legs tied from a bush at 10 no. Sector of Purbachal area on Saturday morning, four days after his going missing.

The body was sent to Narayanganj Sadar Hospital morgue, the SI added.

Police, however, have arrested three friends of the deceased in connection with murder.

Quoting family members, SI Nazim said two friends of Mawla called him out of home over phone on Wednesday afternoon saying trip. But he did not return home.

Father of the deceased on Thursday lodged a general diary (GD) with Rupganj Police Station in this connection.

Launching investigation, police arrested a teenage boy using advance technology.

According to information gleaned from the arrested teenager, police arrested two other teenagers who called Mawla out on the day of incident.

After getting information from them in interrogation, police recovered the body.

Quoting the arrested teenagers, SI Nazim said Mawla had a love affair with a girl in the locality. One of his friends also liked the girl.

The three friends along with several others tied Mawla with rope and strangled to death 'to remove obstacle'. Then they hid the body into bush, the SI added.

In primary questioning, Mawla's friends confessed that they killed him over a love affair related dispute, said Officer in-charge Mahamudul Hasan.
