Sarishabari's Siddique sued for crimes against humanity
A case has been lodged against Abu Bakr Siddique of Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur district on charge of committing crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
Zahura Begum, wife of late Tofazzal Hossain of Ijarapara (Gonarpara) village in the upazila, filed the case against Puthiarpara village resident Abu Bakr Siddique alias Siddique Al Badr alias Jallad Siddique, 68), with a court in Sarishabari of Jamalpur on October 14.
In the lawsuit, allegations of handing over freedom fighters and freedom seeking innocent Bengalis to the Pakistan occupation force, killing them, and assisting homicide and so on during liberation war of 1971 were brought against Siddique.
Advocate Abdul Bari for the plaintiff confirmed the matter on Saurday.
A total of 26 people, including Pogaldigha UP chairman Sams Uddin, Union Muktijoddha Sangsad Fazlul Haque and accused Siddique's elder brother Abdur Rashid, were made witness in the case.
Jamalpur Judicial Magistrate Solaiman Kabir took the case into account and sent it to International Crimes Tribunal, Dhaka on November 5.
